Keep Being Fierce

Reflecting on the journey of healing, growth, and cycle breaking, I've realized the power of resilience and the importance of being a fierce protector, both for oneself and for others. Maybe this means for kids, friends, or anyone in need. This understanding came to me recently, in a deeply personal way:

As someone who needed that protection and didn't get it;

As someone who needed a voice of sanity and never heard one;

As a father who has only recently realized how to finally begin healing.

Keep being fierce.

I'm 45. My kids are 6 and 11. We started healing together not long ago. We have a lot of work to do together, but the connections with them these past months are some of the most amazing moments of my life.

Keep being fierce.

How many connections have been missed out on because nobody was fierce for me?

Or for my abuser?

Or for hers?

How many lives destroyed?

Fuck that.

Keep being fierce.

I plan to be.
